Marjan van Aubel (Netherlands, 1985) is a designer with an inquisitive, almost scientific perspective. She graduated in 2012 from the Design Products course at the Royal College of Art and is currently based in London.
Van Aubel comes from a family of chemists and this background has left its mark on the way she perceives the world. "I have always studied materials and their behaviour, which I try to manipulate in different ways in order to create something new. As a researcher, I am curious about what appear to be ordinary things and processes and I am always looking for new links.”
She has collaborated with many different companies and other designers, including EPFL-Lab, Solaronix, The American Hardwood Export Council and Joris Laarman. She has exhibited at world class institutions such as the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, won the First Prize Dutch DOEN/Materiaalprijs and has been featured widely in national and international press.
